The Balance of Head and Heart

I sometimes need to consciously connect my head with my heart. This connection should be very natural but for me it has been an effort. More often than not, I prefer to just allow my head to "rule". My heart or emotions need not play any part or just a small role. I find it hard to allow myself to cry for example, though I know that crying is okay and it is cleansing and a release, yet in my head I think of it as weakness for me. I can distinctly re-call and count the times when I have cried freely and it has always been because of the LORD touching my heart.

Am I hard-hearted? More likely I am hard-headed (hahaha :-D )!!! Perhaps a bit of both? Well, the Good Book says that He can exchange for us a heart of stone for a heart of flesh. I believe my "heart transplant operation" has begun. On the head-side, the Good Book says that He renews our minds and that we can put on the mind of Christ. This too has begun in me. As these two main organs are corrected then all else will function well, for example, as per even our human body. That is so interesting huh? Yes, revelation to me of the basics of life once again.

I do not believe it is wrong to be a thinker. Our Father has given us brains, minds, an ability to reason things out. But did not give these to us to hinder our relationships with Him. No, He gave these to us so that we might understand Him and others better.

Neither is it wrong to be a feeler. Our Father wired us with emotions, feelings, an ability to feel deeply the emotions of love, joy, sadness, and the list goes on. But again He has not given us these emotions so that we go off the deep end and become just a puddle of feelings and unable to function in any productive way. No, He has given us this ability to feel so that we may also know His heart and allow ourselves to be a channel of His grace and love to others.

Ah so, is not IQ over EQ or vice-versa but both must be balanced in a person. Then the person will be whole and can minister best to others. If I were to picture myself before then I would draw myself with a big head (some say P H D = Permanent Head Damage hahaha :-P but this is NOT so, I reject that!) But a small heart is also abnormal. Therefore, the best is to have normal size of both. I say again both are needed to be a balanced person, healthy in all ways.
